College Hospitality and Catering Academy helps sharpen young chefs' skills

Chef masterclass1Students and staff from South Thames College's Hospitality and Catering Academy helped budding chefs from eight local schools perfect their cooking skills at a special masterclass, as part of the Wandsworth Young Chef competition.

The competition which is now in its third year is run by the Mayor of Wandsworth and the council’s public health team.

The masterclass which focused on knife skills was designed to help prepare the students for the competition's final which will be held next spring, when their creations will be judged by TV chef Anthony Worrall Thompson, Nick Vadis and the our chef lecturer Ross Anderson.

chf2Ross said: "South Thames College is delighted to be involved with the competition as it helps develop young chefs' skills, especially working under pressure, which is vital for succeeding in this industry. It is also a really great way for young people to learn more about cooking healthy and affordable meals."
