South Thames College students succeed as Business Entrepreneurs

IMG 7252

Many of our students use their new found skills to generate income and set up in business or as freelances.

Francoise, pictured below, sold her first piece at this year’s Merton Art’s Festival. She has attended our glass making course, building up her skills, making supportive friends and growing in confidence, and has found a welcome additional source of income.

Jenny, also learning glass making skills has now completed a number of commissioned pieces and images of her work have been used in and sold through a variety of publications. She extends her knowledge with each new project.

Sylvia has converted her knitting skills into money. She was recently spotted at an Edinburgh kitting show where she won a ‘Style award’, by Stephen West who owner a well-known Amsterdam based yarn company, and is now concentrating on producing patterns for publication and sale. She travels from Hertfordshire to South Thames College, Tooting to attend knitting and crochet following extensive research to find a course where she could not only improve her knitting and crochet techniques, but learn design and pattern making.
