South Thames College hosted a series of workshops and classes promoting good mental health and well-being, staff and students worked in collaboration with expert practitioners to address various issues.
Seva is a Sanskrit word that describes the act of selfless love. Staff and Pupils worked with practitioners to provide a platform for discussions and opportunities, creating focus groups and mentor and support groups, with the aim to build an inclusive environment through positive discussion and action.
We ran a series of Workshops from ‘Mental Health is Wealth’ by Inside Out UK to a workshop on Yoga & Meditation practises to help improve Mental Health. Cricketer, Monty Panesar was also in attendance and participated in a Q&A with students, sharing his advice.
Monty Panesar commented ‘Great initiative developing The Seva Project to help all communities to talk and give understanding to people to have a healthy mind.’
Vanessa Boachie, Founder & Creative Director at Inside Out UK commented ‘I love the holistic idea of the project with tapping into different aspects of mental health and wellbeing with the different workshops.’
Lily Faux, lecturer in Health & Social care commented, ‘Today was an opportunity for all to allow themselves to have a timeout and think about themselves by relaxing and accessing different treatments.’
The project will continue, with workshops running throughout the school year so please get in touch if you would like to be involved!
