South Thames College named Innovator of the Year at Wandsworth Business Awards

WBA 1

South Thames College has picked up the award for Innovation of the Year for the collaboration with Wandsworth Oasis on a charity fashion show that showcased the type of sustainable fashion that can be re-used and upcycled.

It was a truly collaborative effort as students from a range of courses were involved in the show, gaining invaluable first-hand experience. The Art & Design students worked on style redesign of the Wandsworth Oasis clothes which were exhibited on the night with Beauty & Media Make up students styling the models. Construction students built the stage and the TV & Film Production students filmed throughout the event.

The Wandsworth Business awards is an exciting programme developed and organised by Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce to reward and celebrate the borough’s many dynamic and innovative businesses, the awards gala dinner was held on Friday 11th October.

Chris Dodd, Head of Employability at South Thames College, commented, “We are hugely honoured to have won this award with our partners at Wandsworth Oasis. It is a testament to all of the hard work put in by learners and staff to make the project such a success. We are already planning for the Fashion Show 2020!”

Alexandra Wyatt, Community Engagement Manager at Wandsworth Oasis commented “We are absolutely delighted to have won Innovator of the Year jointly with South Thames College for the Wandsworth Business Awards 2019. We are very proud of this and our close relationship with South Thames College. We are already planning more with them for next year...watch this space!”
