South Thames helps honour Wandsworth’s best businesses

Web Wandsworth Business AwardsSouth Thames College helped celebrate Wandsworth's thriving business community at the borough's Business Awards led by Wandsworth Chambers of Commerce.

Over 220 people attended the event held at the Roehampton Club, which saw 11 businesses rewarded for their hard work and dedication in categories ranging from Entrepreneur of the Year, Commitment to the Community and Best Green Business.

South Thames College sponsored the Best Business for Training and Development category, an accolade that went to RS Consulting.

Category judge, Matt Amos, works in the College's Tooting-based Business Centre which is responsible for delivering business training and apprenticeships. He said: "RS Consulting is a very worth winner of this category. The business is not only fully committed to training their own staff but also to offering great opportunities to local young people through work placement schemes and community outreach."

A full service market research-based consultancy, the company is dedicated to helping organisations get to the heart of their most difficult problems. Of winning the award, Research Director Anthony Wood said: "We are ecstatic. We have belief in what we do in terms of our training. We make such a big effort to develop everyone and make sure they are successful."

Radio and television presenter Paul Ross hosted the awards, which included a charity raffle that raised £1,370 for Breast Cancer Care, a fabulous three-course meal provided by the Roehampton Club and a drinks reception hosted by Lock & Leave Self Storage.

Councillor James Cousins, Wandsworth Council Cabinet Member for Business added: "Business is what gives Wandsworth its heart. I would like to congratulate all the winners for being such excellent businesses to win an award, but I would like to congratulate all the businesses, at the event or not, for making Wandsworth such a great place."
