On Monday 11 February, South Thames College was delighted to welcome Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP for the launch of the Take One campaign at the college’s Tooting Campus.
South Thames College has joined forces with Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce, the Wandsworth Ambitions Careers Initiative and Merton Chamber of Commerce to set a challenge for Wandsworth businesses to ‘Take One’ young person – to provide work experience, an Internship, a Traineeship, an Apprenticeship, support a volunteer placement or through mentoring a young person.
Allin-Khan, MP for Tooting, tweeted: “Far too often, young people are not given the opportunity to reach their full potential. Today, with @SouthThamesColl, I brought together community organisations from across Tooting to discuss what employment and skills opportunities we can provide to local young people.”
On the 31 January 2019, South Thames College played host to the annual Wandsworth Construction Jobs Fair, in partnership with London Borough of Wandsworth Council’s Work Match division. The recruitment event attracted over 100 experienced workers in the field of construction and young people looking to enter the industry.
