Jamahl Golland has gained a brilliant D*D*D* on our two year BTEC in Sport & Exercise Science and has accepted a place at University College London to study Sport and Exercise Medical Sciences BSc.

“I studied a BTEC as I knew that A Levels weren't right for me. Having my grades solely dependent on exam results was not going to work out. I knew that to get the UCAS points I needed to get into top universities, I needed an alternative path. I chose Kingston College as it has had a reputation for being a very good college for many years. Not only that, but they offered a BTEC in Sport and Exercise Science, which was the perfect course for me to both obtain high UCAS points and enjoy my studies.

“My favourite part of the course is the variety of assessment types, including exams, coursework, presentations, and practical videos. I think the best thing about the varied assessments is how closely they mimic the style of university assessments, enabling you to feel prepared for university. I knew that college life would be different from school life, but I didn't quite know how. The freedom of college life really surprised me, but this was good as it allowed me to study in a way that would help me learn best.

“Now, I plan on taking a gap year from university to work as a personal trainer for my parents' business before I continue onto UCL to study Sport and Exercise Medical Sciences BSc. I truly believe that without this course, I would not have these opportunities in my life right now.

“My main advice to people thinking about applying for this course would be to explore all of your options to really find what is right for you, as a BTEC could be the course for you to get into your choice of university or your dream career."

As well as his outstanding academic success, Jamahl has also experienced tremendous sporting success as well and has a number of WKU World Kickboxing world titles to his name. Take a look here!
