Despite the pandemic, our Foundation Degree (FdA) Early Years students have continued to hear from a number of fantastic guest speakers this year.

Stephen Kilgour is an Additional Needs Advisor working for Tapestry and the Foundation Stage Forum. He was previously Deputy Headteacher and Early Years Lead of Cherry Garden School in London which is a specialist provision for children aged 2-11.

Stephen commented: “I delivered a session to Foundation Degree students at Kingston College, specifically the Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Practice course. The session focussed on how we can move away from a data-centric approach to assessment with children in the Early Years or older children with learning differences. I really enjoyed engaging with the students who contributed to the session with some thoughtful questions and opinions. Although the session was delivered remotely it felt like there was valuable discussion and learning taking place. The organisation of the session had been smooth, and communication with the course leader very straightforward.”
