Working with Kingston Libraries and Superhighways, BTEC IT students are continuing to volunteer their time by hosting digital helpdesks across Kingston Libraries one day a week. The scheme enables members of the public to get free support and assistance with basic digital software/hardware issues on their personal devices, as well as support to use the free library computers. 

IT student, Antonio Gallardo Delgado (pictured left), is really enjoying the opportunity. He says: “The work placement means I’m helping the elderly and those who struggle with technology to aid with any task that they may require help with. It opens you to the real world, as you find people in situations where they need help, yet are stuck due to a technological barrier which became my job to mitigate. This made me proud of myself as not only do you get to help people who are struggling, you try your best to guide them so they won't need your help again.”

Gabriel Fay (pictured right), told us why he chose a BTEC: "I chose BTEC because I felt that it worked well for me as it does not just come down to a final exam - there’s more of a focus on coursework alongside exams, instead of just exams. My favourite part is the coursework and implementing what I've learnt into final projects.”
