As part of the 5-day rolling programme learners look at a number of topics including Behaviours and Communication, complete 2 accredited short courses in Employability and Digital Skills, and complete a mock job interview using Civil Service assessment criteria.
The programme has proven to be hugely popular, and the provision is now being expanded to additional cohorts for Wandsworth, Sutton & Merton, and Kingston.
"Bal Virdee MBE, South London DWP Labour Market Lead, who was involved in the planning of the programme, commented: "We have been really pleased to work with South Thames College to encourage more local residents to consider a career in the Civil Service. The courses have been high quality and the learners have benefitted from classroom based training in the excellent college facilities. Our DWP staff have welcomed the opportunity to be involved in the training programme and to talk to the participants about their careers in the Civil Service."
